Mallacht

Mallacht is the final product of our Alternative Game Design course at the University of Utah. It has come together through countless sleepless nights, a ton of cramming, and even more care for the product we wanted to make. The game itself was designed as an educational instrument for early middle-school to garner interest and attention towards the world of folklore and similar for teachers as well as simply people interested.

The game itself centers around a playable character whose mother, after giving her book to the player, is kidnapped by a creature known as a Fomorian leaving behind the quote "Use the book to find me!..." Now, armed with her notes on nearby fauna and folktales, you get to navigate a mere glimpse at the world of Celtic folklore, in order to get her back.
